Hello All –
We are still fighting winter here, but we did manage to get out and enjoy a bit of time together for not a whole lot of money. Sometimes, money saving is a need and sometimes it is a want. It’s definitely important to understand the difference, but either way, it feels pretty good to use your sense and save some cents!
Saturday, we got out for a drive and remembered we needed to stop by our local Dollar General to use a coupon that we earned last weekend while using a coupon! We aren’t the best coupon users in the world, but Dollar General and their digital coupons make it easy. Our coupon for yesterday was $5.00 off any $5.01 or more purchase. You really can’t beat a coupon like that one!
While there, we picked up a couple sweatshirts and sweatpants as they were 50% off. What we didn’t realize was that it was 50% off a already much reduced price. This weekend, after stopping at a few Dollar General stores, we bought 12 sets of 2 piece sweatsuits for $15.32. These are normally $14 a set or $7 per item. That’s a savings of $152.68.
I’ll admit that in the past I would have suggested we didn’t need that many of the same item. However, money saving me has decided these items won’t go bad. We definitely use them and let’s be honest, I’d love to have $152.68 to spend somewhere else.
In addition to those great deals, we were able to have a nice meal out, purchase some groceries – with a list and a calculator (more on groceries in another post), and enjoy a bit of sunshine too.
The key to saving money on a regular basis is to keep your eyes and mind wide open! Always be looking for gifts or items that won’t go bad and you can use down the road. Anything that can’t be used today, but you will surely use at some point can be a real savings over time.
Off to the start of a new week for me… Keep on saving!
