As the wife of a money saving master, I’ll admit that at times I’ve been skeptical about some of the ideas out there for saving money. I will also admit that I like easy. When looking for apps, I like things to be what they seem at face value without a lot of hidden hoops to jump through. Years ago, I had some success with receipt scanning as a way of saving money, but then I got away from it for a variety of reasons. When I got back to it, it took me some time to find receipt scanning apps that were exactly what they seemed. I’m here to share two of the very best that I’ve found when it comes to ease and real money saving rewards.
Receipt Hog App
The first app I want to tell you about is Receipt Hog. There is currently no referral program for this app, so head right there and get signed up. Receipt Hog is very easy to use. You download the app and begin scanning receipts using the built in camera on the app. Their program includes earning coins toward gift certificates and PayPal rewards as well as earning entries into their monthly sweepstakes.
Additionally, you can meet weekly goals that will allow you to take spins and earn even more coins. Also, on occasion, surveys will appear for you to take that give additional coin opportunities. I scan every single receipt that we get and then let the app decide the coins or entries that I earn based on their program.
In the several months I’ve been participating, I’ve had one receipt that I’ve scanned that didn’t earn something. This receipt was a small local place where the receipt didn’t print clearly. Every other receipt has earned me something with this app. Scanning take seconds and you can earn a $5.00 reward with as little as 1000 points! Rewards are given in Amazon gift e-cards, Visa e-cards, or cash directly to your PayPal account all for a few minutes of your time! I highly recommend you check it out and start saving money with this great receipt scanning app.
Coinout App
The second receipt scanning app that I want you to start saving money with is called Coinout.
Coinout is very similar to the Receipt Hog app in that you scan receipts and earn. However, Coinout shows you instant earnings in a cash amount. The rewards offered in this app include PayPal ($10 minimum) or you can redeem weekly for any amount through an Amazon Gift e-card or your bank account. I’d be very appreciative if you would use the referral link when you sign-up for this awesome app as it will give me a small bonus for sharing the app with you.
In addition to receipt scanning, this app does also have options for earning through online buying. Coinout also occasionally rewards you extra ‘gifts’ for your scanning and participation. Again, it takes no time to scan in the receipts and see the money rise instantly on your app. I really enjoy seeing that number go up and consider it a way of saving money on the groceries I would buy anyway.
Just a Starting Point
There are many apps out there that scanning receipts will help you in your saving money goals. However, these two are a really great starting point and to put it plainly are easy and reliable. For me, that is the way to save money and start reaching some of your financial goals. I’d love to hear about your experience with these apps or with any apps you use for saving money. Your success is our success; so please let us know what you most want to see on moneysavin.com.
Happy Saving!
